Chaitee Sengupta has been studying Odissi dance since 1996. The majority of her training has been under Ms. Asako Takami and Sri Manoranjan Pradhan. She has performed extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area individually and with the Pallavi Dance Group. She has also performed in Orissa, India under the auspices of the Orissa Dance Academy. In 2003 she was a guest artist with Pittsburgh-based Srishti Dances of India's touring production of "Shatarupa: Splendorous Myths and Divinities of India". She was a 2004 recipient of the California Traditional Artist Apprenticeship Grant. Chaitee has been an instructor with the Pallavi Dance Group in Oakland, CA and has given Odissi workshops and lecture-demonstrations in public schools and libraries. She has also taught an introductory Odissi dance course through the ASUW Experimental College in Seattle.
